Haydn n’est pas incompatible avec James Brown, ni Tchaïkovski avec Gainsbourg. C’est ce que prouvent les archets du quatuor Leonis, quatre jeunes interprètes français, à travers leur spectacle « Eclisse totale ». Ces musiciens, tous issus de parcours traditionnels et prestigieux (CNSM de Lyon et de Paris), s’investissent depuis la création du quatuor en 2004 dans l’élaboration de nouvelles formes de concert, en lien avec la danse, le théâtre ou les arts visuels. Ils ont d’ailleurs régulièrement collaboré avec Olivier Py, lors de son mandat à la tête du Théâtre de l’Odéon. Ce n’est donc pas un hasard si on les retrouve également à l’affiche du « In » (pour les Sept dernières paroles du Christ de Haydn, avec le récitant Philippe Girard). Présenté dans le Off, « Eclisse Totale » est la première incursion du quatuor dans le genre du théâtre musical. Le burlesque, le loufoque, s’invitent dans un concert de musique classique soumis à un dérèglement généralisé… A travers ce concert des plus fantaisiste, les musiciens interrogent le rapport à la scène, au public, le rôle des interprètes, la forme du concert classique dont ils transgressent allègrement les codes. L’humoriste Emmanuel Jeantet, alias Manu Kroupit, signe la mise en scène. Les Léonis marcheraient-ils sur les pas du « Quatuor » ?
