Avec son nouveau projet discographique, et dans ses prolongements scéniques à venir, le pianiste, que l’on avait vu dialoguer ces dernières années avec la claveciniste Violaine Cochard ou encore revisiter en solo la musique de Bach (Think Bach 1 & 2), se lance un nouveau défi. Edouard Ferlet ouvre dans « Pianoïd » un espace de jeu avec les machines dans un dispositif technique et sonore difficile à se représenter pour les néophytes du son (quatre instruments y sont mobilisés : le piano SILENT™, l’ordinateur et son logiciel Ableton Live, le contrôleur MIDI et le clavier automate Disklavier™, clavier automate). Mais son intérêt est ailleurs, dans la possibilité qu’il offre de provoquer l’imagination du musicien selon de nouvelles règles et modalités. “Au fur et à mesure du travail, je me suis aperçu des possibilités infinies et me suis noyé dans la technologie. J’ai dû revenir à l’essentiel pour trouver une liberté. Plus le morceau va être épuré, plus il y aura de l’espace pour improviser et développer. Je cherche à gommer les frontières entre composition et improvisation pour que la pièce se déroule dans sa continuité ” explique Edouard Ferlet. Une réussite au service d’une musique inclassable que l’on pourrait qualifier d’auto-interactive, heureusement dominée par la poétique sonore et la mélodie.
