Euripide, Sophocle, plus tard O?Neill, Giraudoux? Electre encre depuis des
siècles la plume des poètes. En 1903, alors que Freud enfante la théorie de
l’inconscient, Hugo von Hofmannsthal tranche dans la chair du mythe et livre sa
version, resserrée sur les figues féminines, contaminée par les analyses
psychanalytiques. L’écriture, farouche, brutale, rougie au feu d’une
éblouissante sauvagerie, pénètre dans l’étouffant gynécée où s’affrontent
Electre, sa s’ur Chrysothémis et sa mère Clytemnestre, hors du regard des
hommes, partis en Tauride. Stanislas Nordey, qui se mesure pour la première fois
à la tragédie, a frayé au couteau son chemin dans l’?uvre du dramaturge
viennois, que Richard Strauss transforma en opéra. « La mise en scène du
spectacle m’a amené à être tranchant comme le texte, et la scénographie en
angles et en matières permet de dessiner au plus près ces silhouettes de
femmes. » dit-il. Dans ce huis clos hanté par la mort et la malédiction du
destin, Valérie Lang mène le bal, au plus près des pulsions qu’il génère.
