« J’ai toujours aimé l’exercice stimulant et inventif de soumettre une de mes créations à une contrainte musicale ou gestuelle pourvoyeuse de sens et de créativité », note Blanca Li. En 1999, le désir de se confronter à des contraintes fécondes l’avait amenée à créer Macadam Macadam, qui avait renouvelé en profondeur la perception de la danse hip-hop. Avec Elektro Kif, c’est une autre culture de corps dont la chorégraphe se saisit : la danse électro, apparue au début des années 2000, qui a notamment développé une virtuosité inédite dans les mouvements des bras. Huit jeunes danseurs l’accompagnent dans sa recherche, qui vise à faire goûter à tout le plaisir de cette énergie spécifique. Une création qui est aussi, semble-t-il, le premier exemple de réalisation scénique entièrement fondée sur l’électro.
