L’auteur Eudes Labrusse, directeur du Théâtre du Mantois, met en scène avec Jérôme Imard son dernier texte Elias Leister a disparu, un thriller centré sur l’enfance et la recherche des origines, structuré selon les principes du policier. « Les thèmes de l’enfance, des origines, du désir d’enfant, la problématique d’avoir ou non un enfant, m’ont intéressé, en jouant sur les références à Œdipe, le mythe par excellence sur ces questions. » La pièce compte trois parties, et dans chacune, Elias Lester disparaît. Dans la première partie Elias a dix ans et lorsqu’il se rend compte à l’insu de sa famille qu’il a été adopté, et il quitte la maison, en plein hiver. Dans la deuxième partie, Elias, plus âgé, est devenu soldat et est envoyé dans un pays du Sud où il va être confronté à un massacre d’enfants soldats. Il déserte et disparaît une seconde fois. Dans la troisième, la pièce bascule dans un monde irréel et onirique. Elias disparaît au cœur d’une jungle peuplée d’enfants errants, alors qu’il n’existe plus que dans le rêve de son amour d’enfance. Six personnages partagent donc la même quête de vérité, et leurs diverses voix se répondent et s’entrelacent, comme un chœur. Un polar doublé d’une exploration de l’inconscient.
