Grâce à ses deux albums récents parus chez Nocturne, encensés par la critique internationale, Elisabeth Kontomanou s’est définitivement installée dans l’élite mondiale des chanteuses de jazz. Cent-cinquante concerts et une Victoire de la Musique 2006 après son dernier opus, elle revient en signant « Back to my groove » , un disque très personnel entièrement composé de sa main –textes et musiques- et convoquant des univers et musiciens de tous horizons. La chanteuse porte un regard introspectif sur son passé et son parcours dans un bain de musiques profondes nourries de feelings blues, gospel et soul … « Je pense être toujours dans un « passage ». Je vais toujours vers quelque chose. Rien n’est jamais acquis. Ce qui m’intéresse c’est de découvrir, y compris moi-même » confie-t-elle. « J’ai besoin d’observer, de sentir, de prendre beaucoup de recul sur les choses. Cela me sert beaucoup dans mon art. Chacun a son temps et chacun vit son temps d’une manière différente ». Avec (entre beaucoup d’autres !) Orrin Evans au piano, Marvin Sewell à la guitare, Thomas Bramerie à la contrebasse, Leon Parker aux percussions, le Quatuor à cordes Elysée, la harpe d’Isabelle Olivier, etc.. et les arrangements de Gustave Karlström. Un disque profond, luxueux et indispensable.
