Le poly-soufflant Laurent Dehors a de la suite dans les idées. En 1999, il publiait « Dentiste », deuxième album qui confirmait l’originalité de la démarche de son drôle de big band : labourer les champs des musiques populaires du terroir, les fertiliser à grandes giclées improvisées, afin d’y faire germer des perspectives inédites… A la clef un terrible « Valeureux Liégois », espèce de rhythm’n’blues made in Normandie. Dix ans et quelques disques plus tard, le ludion rouennais publie un nouvel ovni, avec en couverture un dentier, histoire d’en rire, histoire de dire qu’il s’agit aussi de croquer le jazz par tous les bouts. « Le nouveau répertoire est une suite de danses, comme dans l’ancien régime mais avec les sons d’aujourd’hui. » Menuet déjanté pour commencer, bulgo funk, twist au clavecin et valse façon groove pour continuer, avant d’en finir par une « Jungle » foisonnante d’idées et de couleurs… Vivier des plus (ré)créatifs, le big band Tous Dehors produit sans aucun doute l’une des bandes-son les plus (im)pertinentes du jazz hexagonal, se jouant avec malice des époques et des styles, conjuguant avec délice plus que parfait des suggestifs. Un bol d’airs frais immanquable pour les curieux de tout bord.
