Théâtre de la Bastille / texte et mes David Geselson
Entre mythologies et faits historiques, David Geselson entreprend de bâtir un pont et un dialogue fondé sur l’histoire de son grand-père Yehouda Ben Porat (1914-2009) et sur son propre rapport à cette histoire marquante qui traverse le XXème siècle. Parti de Lituanie en 1934 pour la Palestine sous mandat britannique, co-fondateur d’un kibboutz dans la Vallée du Jourdain, soldat dans la Brigade Juive au sein de l’armée britannique pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, Yehouda Ben Porat participe à la guerre d’indépendance de l’État, quitte Israël puis revient fonder et diriger Yad Ben Tsvi, l’Institut de recherche sur l’Histoire d’Israël, à partir de 1971. Il a regretté de voir ses rêves et ses idéaux malmenés à l’épreuve du conflit. « Nous sommes deux, Yehouda et moi, à nous raconter. » confie David Geselson. C’est à l’occasion d’une rupture amoureuse qui le fait fuir au Japon qu’il réinterroge et réinterprète cette ascendance au fil d’une quête croisant l’intime et l’historique. La pièce entrelace fiction et réalité et, au-delà du débat sur la question du territoire et de l’héritage, vise à s’élever et à produire de la pensée. Avec David Geselson et Elios Noël dans le rôle du grand-père.
