Que d’émotions et de beauté dans cet opus de Thierry Malandain ! Superbement inventive, l’écriture traverse une histoire humaine tout en tensions et contrastes qui se déploie entre le rêve d’un monde harmonieux et la réalité d’une vie sans horizon. Sobre et efficace, la scénographie enferme d’abord les danseurs dans un dispositif de multiples carrés en tubes de métal, permettant de mettre en jeu des mouvements millimétrés d’une grand force expressive. Lorsque le dispositif s’élève et disparaît dans les cintres, c’est tout l’élan joyeux et lumineux du rêve qui apparaît. A l’unisson de la Symphonie Pastorale de Beethoven, qui ressuscite une Arcadie antique sereine et confiante, le chorégraphe fait référence à l’Antiquité grecque comme espace de rêve et d’idéal, où se libèrent des mouvements fluides et affirmés. L’écriture s’articule autour d’une figure centrale, qui s’élance vers le rêve et s’avance vers la mort. Sorte de double du chorégraphe, ce personnage romantique est dansé par Hugo Layer avec une précision et une assurance époustouflantes, qui laissent transparaître une sorte de fragilité. Les costumes sont superbes. Façonnée avec science et patience, la danse révèle une beauté qui serre le cœur et nourrit l’esprit.
