Le pianiste et compositeur Enrico Pieranunzi, formé à la musique classique au Conservatoire Sainte-Cécile de Rome, est l’une des grandes figures du jazz transalpin. Il a joué avec des musiciens tels que Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Paul Motian, Charlie Haden, Chris Potter, Marc Johnson et Joey Baron et développé une riche carrière sous son nom qui lui a valu en 1993 la distinction de « Meilleur musicien de jazz européen » décernée à Paris par l’Académie du Jazz. Accueilli dans l’atmosphère intimiste du foyer du Théâtre du théâtre du Chatelet, le grand pianiste italien revient avec son feeling très particulier de jazzman sur les partitions de trois compositeurs baroques nés en 1685 : Bach, Haendel et Scarlatti. Un regard différent sur cette musique surgie du XVIIIè siècle, comjuguant rigueur pianistique et liberté dans l’inspiration. Le disque « 1685 – plays Bach, Haendel, Scarlatti » est sorti au printemps dernier chez CAM Jazz/Harmonia Mundi. Passionnant.
