Franck Bedrossian (né en 1971) est cette année en résidence auprès de l’Ensemble 2e2m. Imprégnée de culture rock et d’héritage industriel, l’œuvre de ce pensionnaire de la Villa Médicis joue sur la « saturation » du son. Fort intelligemment, l’ensemble dirigé par Pierre Roullier retrace la filiation de cette musique terriblement efficace (illustrée ici par la version définitive de It, créée en janvier à Rome) avec celle de Gérard Grisey (Talea pour cinq instruments), pionnier du courant « spectral », qui prône l’exploration intérieure du phénomène sonore. Les œuvres de Mauro Lanza, né en 1975 et voisin de Franck Bedrossian à la Villa Médicis, participent elles aussi d’une démarche d’invention sonore dans Erba nera che cresci segno nero tu vivi pour soprano et électronique et Barocco pour soprano entourée d’instruments jouets. La création de Jean-Marc Singier (né en 1954) pour saxophone et ensemble se placerait plutôt du côté du rythme en intégrant les instruments du jazz.
