Dans le cadre du Festival Perkumania, l’Ensemble 2e2m, sous la houlette de Pierre Roullier, consacre une soirée à la percussion contemporaine. Pas un compositeur qui n’exploite aujourd’hui les possibilités offertes par cet instrumentarium foisonnant, allant du marimba à la grosse-caisse, du gong au triangle. Le concert s’ouvre avec Obliques pour timbales et électroacoustique de Raphaèle Biston, une jeune compositrice française inspirée par le processus d’improvisation. En création mondiale sera ensuite donné Nervoso, un concerto pour percussions signé Arnaud Petit. Ce spécialiste d’électroacoustique est notamment connu pour avoir écrit une remarquable musique destinée au film La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc de Carl Dreyer. De caractère percussif bien qu’elle soit seulement écrite pour accordéon, Bossa Nova de Franck Bedrossian gomme à jamais les clichés passéistes associés à cet instrument. L’accordéoniste Pascal Contet saura sans nul doute mettre en valeur l’écriture saturée de ce compositeur, qui vient d’être nommé professeur à l’Université californienne de Berkeley. Pour conclure le concert, place à une pièce mythique de la littérature pour percussions : Ionisation d’Edgar Varèse. Ecrite en 1929, cette partition a véritablement révolutionné l’histoire de la musique en révélant la richesse stupéfiante d’un ensemble composé uniquement de percussions.
