Les deux styles paraissent totalement opposés. Le baroque français mêle
rythmes solennels et courbes gracieuses, tandis que le baroque italien développe
des mélodies chantantes et des impulsions dynamiques. Certains compositeurs ont
néanmoins dépassé ces barrières idiomatiques, afin de « réunir les goûts ».
Leclair ou Muffat se sont ainsi rendus à Rome et à Turin en vue de rencontrer
les compositeurs de la péninsule, en particulier Corelli. Pour interpréter cette
union franco-italienne, la Cité de la musique a convié deux ensembles : les
Folies françoises de Patrick Cohën-Akenine et l’Ensemble 415 de la Suisse
italienne Chiara Bianchini. On ne peut que se réjouir d’entendre la réunion de
ces deux formations, notamment dans les Concerti grossi de Corelli ?
créés à l’époque par un effectif d’une centaine de musiciens. Un vrai retour aux
sources.
