D’un côté, un compositeur, architecte de formation, qui fait montre d’une précision millimétrée dans la construction musicale. De l’autre, un compositeur souvent qualifié de fantaisiste voire de provocateur, à l’écriture proche des techniques d’improvisation. L’ensemble intercontemporain ose la rencontre entre Iannis Xenakis et Georges Aperghis, deux créateurs a priori opposés. A priori seulement, car ils partagent toutefois un même traitement jusqu’au-boutiste des instruments, nécessitant de la part des interprètes un engagement total. De Xenakis, on entendra Phlegra pour onze musiciens et Rebonds pour percussion seule (avec l’excellent Gilles Durot). D’Aperghis, deux pièces pour ensemble (Pièce pour douze, Heysel) sont au programme, ainsi qu’une création intitulée Happiness Daily. Cette œuvre réunira les voix de Donatienne Michel-Dansac (soprano) et Marianne Pousseur (mezzo-soprano), deux fidèles de l’auteur des Récitations. L’Ensemble intercontemporain est dirigé par un jeune chef déjà plus que prometteur : le français Ludovic Morlot, qui mène une belle carrière aux Etats-Unis où il dirige les orchestres de New York, Chicago ou encore Cleveland.
