Nouvellement nommé à la tête de l’ensemble Court-Circuit, Jean Deroyer poursuit sa déjà riche collaboration avec l’Ensemble intercontemporain dans un programme ou se mêlent les créations et le répertoire de l’ensemble. Avec Cuts and dissolves, esquisse symphonique de Wolfgang Rihm, c’est tout à la fois la jeunesse du compositeur et celle de l’ensemble qui sont revisitées. Créée en 1977, pour la première saison de l’Ensemble intercontemporain, l’œuvre témoignait déjà de la forte personnalité du compositeur allemand, revendiquant tout autant l’héritage classique (de Beethoven à Bartók) que les influences contemporaines (celles de Boulez ou Stockhausen par exemple). Trente ans plus tard, l’ensemble continue son œuvre de découverte et propose ici la création d’œuvres de l’Italienne Lara Morciano, de l’Américain Evan Gardner et du Colombien Marco Suarez Cifuentes, étudiant du cursus de composition de l’Ircam. En ouverture, le violoncelliste Pierre Strauch reprend Uqbar pour violoncelle et électronique de Sebastian Rivas (né en 1975), qu’il avait créé en 2006.
