Faire de la musique ensemble, c’est être témoin de son temps. C’est ainsi que l’on peut lire la démarche du jeune Ensemble K, qui réunit autour de la cheffe d’orchestre italo-brésilienne Simone Menezes une quinzaine de musiciens – « avec une vingtaine de passeports » ajoute avec malice la directrice artistique – qui y trouvent l’occasion de pratiquer la musique autrement, en plus de leur carrière de soliste, de chambriste ou de musicien d’orchestre. La dimension cosmopolite de l’ensemble, revendiquée, se retrouve dans des programmes patiemment élaborés à l’occasion de résidences artistiques (et parfois interdisciplinaires), où la musique traverse époques, styles et continents. Réponse de l’esprit à la barbarie, que Paul Valéry aurait pu faire sienne, ce programme au Musée de l’Armée est tantôt bercé par l’énigmatique douceur du monde (Pavane pour une infante défunte de Ravel, Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune de Debussy) ou mis en joie par le langage universel des corps (musiques de danses signées Borodine, Copland ou Piazzolla, voire Steve Reich ou Philip Glass).
