Qu’est-ce qui différencie Duetto5 des précédentes versions ?
Frédérique Loliée : Les premières versions de Duetto étaient des sortes de happenings qui s’appuyaient principalement sur des textes de Rodrigo García. Puis un jour, nous sommes allées voir Leslie Kaplan pour lui parler de ce travail. C’est là qu’elle a commencé à imaginer des textes que nous avons peu à peu intégrés à notre spectacle, des textes qui donnent l’idée d’une discussion à la fois concrète et philosophique entre deux femmes. Pour cette cinquième version, dans le cadre de sa résidence à la Maison de la Poésie en 2008/2009, Leslie a de nouveau écrit des textes qui sont venus enrichir notre propos.
Elise Vigier : D’année en année, à chaque nouvelle version, nous avons donc retravaillé la matière de ce spectacle, comme s’il s’agissait d’une expérimentation perpétuelle, d’une réflexion en cours à laquelle le public pouvait assister. Duetto est un spectacle qui se réinvente en permanence.
La notion d’expérimentation est donc très importante dans Duetto…
E. V. : Elle est essentielle. Duetto est né d’une réflexion qui a donné naissance à toute une suite d’expérimentations : nous nous sommes demandés si deux comédiennes pouvaient échapper aux figures féminines véhiculées par la société et le théâtre – figures de la mère, de l’épouse, de la maîtresse, de la putain…
F. L. : Cette réflexion nous a amenées à nous interroger sur la société de consommation, sur l’image de la femme dans la ville, dans la publicité, dans les supermarchés. Nous nous sommes mises à questionner le rapport entre les mots et les produits, à étudier de façon très approfondie les champs sémantiques qui s’appliquent à tout ce que nous achetons. C’est cette démarche d’associations et d’analyses que nous décortiquons dans Duetto.

E. V. : Oui, car nous décortiquons beaucoup ! D’une certaine façon, Duetto, c’est l’assemblage et la confrontation d’une multitude de détails.
F. L. : D’ailleurs, c’est l’une des choses qui nous lient à l’écriture de Leslie Kaplan : cette façon de toujours s’attacher aux détails, de ne jamais établir de hiérarchie entre ce qui est important et ce qui ne l’est pas. Comme elle, nous croyons que tout se pense, que la moindre petite chose peut être matière à de longs et minutieux questionnements, jusqu’à parfois atteindre le burlesque !
Quelle est la part de jeu et d’improvisation dans Duetto5 ?
E. V. : Tout est préparé, maisrien n’est cadré de façon stricte. Le centre du spectacle se déplace en fonction des représentations. Parfois, c’est plus philosophique, parfois plus angoissé, parfois plus burlesque…C’est vraiment réussi lorsque l’on parvient à être dans l’ici et le maintenant, avec le public, dans un état d’étonnement et de redécouverte qui nous amène à refaire l’expérience des mots, des choses, des corps…
F. L. : Cette expérience est très ludique, même si elle rejoint des interrogations parfois sombres, des interrogations sur la vie et sur le monde. Ce qui est fondamental, pour nous, c’est de prendre du plaisir à jouer, à créer, à penser, dans un esprit d’ouverture sur la ville, en se positionnant comme des actrices actives et citoyennes.
