SYMPHONIQUE / PHILHARMONIE
Katia et Marielle Labèque sont deux pianistes habituées de la scène parisienne. Artistes en résidence auprès de l’orchestre de Paris, elles sont aujourd‘hui les protagonistes du fascinant Concerto pour deux pianos, percussion et orchestre de Bartok. A l’origine écrit en 1940 pour seulement deux pianos et percussions, ce concerto fait partie des grands chefs-d’œuvre du Hongrois, par la rigueur de sa construction formelle en trois mouvements, et par l’inventivité de son écriture sonore. Des trouvailles qui s’expriment dans une complexité polyphonique qu’illustre la fusion de deux pianos traités souvent de manière non mélodique et de neufs percussions prolongeant les phénomènes de résonance, écourtés par l’écriture sèche des deux instruments solistes. Autour de cette pièce, Salonen, dont on connaît la passion pour Bartok, dirige aussi la Suite de danses, écrite dès 1923, alors que Bartók est encore en Europe, puis le Concerto pour orchestre composé en 1943 dans la douleur de l’exil aux Etats-Unis.
