Ce bel élan élogieux dépasse les seules Antilles françaises, il survole la Martinique jusqu’à l’orée du Brésil, de Haïti à la République dominicaine et de Cuba à Trinidad. Plongées dès leur naissance dans les conditions incertaines de la mondialisation, ces terres du bassin caraïbe ont connu une histoire mouvementée, marquée souvent par l’esclavage et la colonisation, et parfois par une quête révolutionnaire identitaire comme à Cuba, ou par une indépendance chèrement gagnée contre les troupes de Napoléon comme à Haïti, premier pays au monde à abolir l’esclavage. De façon manifeste ces terres ont donné naissance à de grands artistes. Avec Paroles d’îles, paroles dues (le 27 mars à 20h30), deux artistes guadeloupéens, l’écrivain Daniel Maximin et le pianiste Alain Jean-Marie, font entendre les écrits d’Aimé Césaire (1913-2008), libérateur des peuples et des esprits, grand poète, député-maire en Martinique pendant un demi-siècle. Pour un aperçu des écritures théâtrales contemporaines en Caraïbe, des lectures sont proposées les 6, 8 et 10 avril dans l’échange avec le public et les comédiens, Marie Louët, Dominik Bernard et Christian Julien. Les auteurs de théâtre présents sont José Pliya avec Nous étions assis sur les rivages du monde, Alfred Alexandre avec La Nuit caribéenne et Bernard Ligier avec Moi chien créole.
Racines créoles et africaines
Le 3 avril à 20h30 se tiendra une conférence sur 1959/2009, 50e anniversaire de la révolution cubaine avec Jeannette Habel et Jean-Jacques Kourliandsky, une réflexion sur « Cuba aujourd’hui l’épicentre du dialogue Sud Sud ». Avec Bailar a Cuba ! le 4 avril à 17h, un temps sera consacré à la légendaire Alicia Alonso, danseuse et fondatrice du Ballet National de Cuba. Le soir, un Bal Salsa, concert de Calle Reina, fera swinguer les sonorités épicées de Cuba. Enfin, le 7 avril à 20h30, François Rancillac met en espace Colère d’après le roman Amour, Colère et Folie de la haïtienne Marie Vieux-Chauvet, publié par Gallimard en 1968. La pression politique et familiale fut alors telle que l’auteur renonça à la diffusion du roman. Elle y dépeint le cri de révolte d’une femme face aux uniformes, jusqu’à la folie. José Pliya, directeur de la Scène nationale de Guadeloupe, l’adapte pour la scène en un monologue. À découvrir encore, la chanteuse haïtienne Moonlight Benjamin, belle voix puisant aux racines créoles et africaines de la musique haïtienne. Et une exposition photos du guadeloupéen Daniel Goudrouffe, « Santiman Karayib ». Un fascinant voyage au long cours.
