Le texte de Pierre Notte est beau : du point de vue de la dramaturgie, parfaitement construit. Drôle, noir, animal et intelligent. Agitant des pulsions si monstrueuses et ordinaires à la fois, pour lesquelles on aime se déplacer au théâtre. Il développe à partir d’une réalité insupportable un univers à la fois cynique et enfantin. Il promène des monstres sur des tréteaux de foire dans une mise en abyme qui interroge la normalité du spectateur. Et parallèlement, d’habiles métaphores approfondissent son propos, qui s’ouvre en de multiples résonnances. Pierre Notte est artiste associé et conseiller au Théâtre du Rond-Point. Comédien de formation, il interprète également un loup à la fois partie prenante, commentateur et narrateur de l’histoire, désabusé de ne plus être le monstre cruel d’antan, mangé tout cru dans son statut de prédateur par l’Homme lui-même. Il relate à toute vitesse et avec un certain détachement les violents événements traversant cette famille où père et mère séquestrent leur fille avant que celle-ci ne parvienne à s’enfuir avec son enfant, qui passé par la sauvage forêt, s’en revient ensuite pour se venger.
Tout semble avoir été pensé dans le sens du décalage
C’est Patrice Kerbrat qui a pris en charge la mise en scène de ce texte. On ignore si Pierre Notte a relayé ses intentions sur scène, ou laissé le spectacle prendre des directions différentes de celles qu’il avait imaginées en composant son texte. La réalité se situe peut-être entre les deux. Il n’en reste pas moins qu’un parti-pris de mise à distance structure ce spectacle. Pour exemple, l’âge des interprètes : Judith Magre et Jean-Jacques Moreau ont bien passé celui d’être parents d’une adolescente de 17 ans. Ou encore, des répliques rapides, une interprétation qui survole les situations, des actions inscrites dans le texte qui ne se jouent pas sur scène, un enfant-loup bien propret pour qui sort des forêts… tout semble avoir été pensé dans le sens du décalage. La cruauté des situations, la tension des conflits, l’animalité des personnages, la noirceur du comique, tout se lisse ainsi à la lumière d’un spectacle mené tambour battant, qui ne semble ne jamais vouloir prendre à bras-le-corps la brutalité charnelle des pulsions noires que Pierre Notte met en évidence. D’un conte tragique, drôle et puissant naît ainsi un divertissement monocorde et distancié où le second degré se superpose maladroitement à l’intelligence.
