Pierre Ascaride poursuit son introspection théâtrale et marseillaise et livre un autoportrait grinçant, cynique et amer qui n’épargne rien ni personne.
On ne guérit jamais tout à fait de son enfance et Pierre Ascaride est de ceux dont les souvenirs continuent de suppurer comme des plaies attaquées par la gangrène du ressentiment. Encore vermisseau, il dort là où sa mère le pose, oubliant d’affirmer sa présence ; à l’âge des premiers succès, il échoue au BEPC pour un exposé hors sujet sur les lombrics, auquel il voue une piété quasi familiale puisque les siens portent le même nom que les parasites intestinaux qui ont colonisé sa prime jeunesse et son slip kangourou. Le dernier volet de la trilogie marseillaise, commencée avec Au vrai chichi marseillais – tragédie un peu grasse et Inutile de tuer son père, le monde s’en charge, évoque donc le portrait d’un homme au mitan de sa vie, sorte de clown triste et désabusé dont les souvenirs et la nostalgie font naître des personnages hauts en couleur (le père égoïste, la rebouteuse odieuse, la grand-mère puante) qu’il campe avec talent.
Les souvenirs et les regrets se ramassent à la pelle
Difficile pour un homme de théâtre de ne pas évoquer son rapport à la scène (le clin d’œil appuyé à Philippe Caubère atteste que Pierre Ascaride se reconnaît des collègues à ce jeu). Le directeur du Théâtre de Malakoff raconte donc la première fois où il est allé au théâtre et où Les Lutins de Tatie Paulette entraînèrent son humiliation publique pour cause de relâchement vésical et d’inondation en plein milieu du spectacle… Accompagné par Pascal Sangla, sorte de clown blanc lunaire qui joue la stupeur un peu gênée face aux débordements haineux de son comparse auguste, Pierre Ascaride tire à vue et n’épargne ni le monde ni le théâtre. Coups de griffe, coups de poing et coups de pied : allergique au politiquement correct, il égratigne les minables devenus critiques dramatiques pour n’avoir pas réussi à investir la scène et avoue imaginer des petits culs bien roulés sous les tchadors les plus austères. Le trait est appuyé, la lippe est amère et le bilan est celui d’un misanthrope que la modernité mercantile et obscène afflige et met en colère. Dyspeptique et bileux, Pierre Ascaride compose un portrait de lui-même en pleine cohérence avec son époque : résolument allergique à la tendresse.
