L’un est d’origine zaïroise (Mister B, Jonathan Manzambi), l’autre moyenne-orientale (Mister A, Sharif Andoura). Tous deux s’élancent depuis la salle pour grimper sur le plateau, initiant ce qui sera une plongée d’une heure dans l’histoire fourmillante et dramatique du XXème siècle. Un siècle fou, fait de grandes découvertes et de cataclysmes, aujourd’hui encore, impensables. Prenant la posture de deux conférenciers facétieux qui s’adressent à un public d’un autre temps, Sharif Andoura et Jonathan Manzambi créent une forme de distance qui permet successivement aux spectateurs de s’amuser de notions poussées dans leurs retranchements, de considérer sous un angle scientifique l’horreur très concrète de la Shoah comme d’autres tragédies. On sourit, on rit même, parfois, ou l’on se glace, ou l’on se met à examiner certaines correspondances historiques auxquelles on n’avait peut-être jamais pensé. Tout ceci par alternance, à travers une cavalcade effrénée de paroles s’attachant à décortiquer des notions et des faits faisant bien sûr partie de nos existences. Car le siècle que les deux comédiens abordent comme s’il s’agissait d’une lointaine époque est encore entièrement le nôtre.
Sharif Andoura et Jonathan Manzambi : deux conférenciers facétieux
Précédé d’un bref préambule présentant des archives vidéo, le spectacle élaboré par Laure Duthilleul s’avance ainsi vers ce qu’elle-même envisage comme « une invitation à la pensée et à la vie ». Une invitation pleine d’allégresse et d’habileté qui relève le pari de concilier impertinence humoristique et acuité intellectuelle. Car, cette représentation souvent irrévérencieuse dose parfaitement ses effets. Dérision, drôlerie, retenue, lucidité : cette version scénique d’Europeana, une brève histoire du XXème siècle ne verse ni dans les complaisances bouffonnes, ni dans les facilités mélodramatiques. Saluons donc le travail de Laure Duthilleul, Sharif Andoura et Jonathan Manzambi, qui s’emparent du texte de l’auteur d’origine tchèque à travers une générosité et une exigence rejoignant opportunément les orientations artistiques définies par les trois nouveaux directeurs de La Pépinière Théâtre (Antoine Coutrot, Emmanuel de Dietrich et Caroline Verdu). Des orientations qui visent à changer l’esprit de ce lieu en défendant des écritures contemporaines ambitieuses, en programmant des spectacles pointus, accessibles et populaires.
