Faire le bien pour se faire aimer du peuple et singer la philanthropie par calcul politique ou imiter la vertu pour mieux cacher sa concupiscence et son désir pervers : Evita et Tartuffe sont des manipulateurs et des séducteurs de haute volée, habiles à tromper et fertiles en astuces et en ruses. Jean Leloup met en scène la pièce de Copi et celle de Molière pendant un mois et demi en alternance, passant de la lumineuse icône des descamisados au sombre plagiaire de la dévotion, de l’une qu’on prit pour une sainte à l’autre qui voudrait qu’on le croit tel. Pour animer l’écriture de Copi et les personnages entourant la blonde caution du péronisme, Jean Leloup crée « un univers métissé de BD et de pantomime, de musiques cadencées, de défilé et des émissions people, de tangos endiablés ». Même insolence permettant « l’accentuation du comique ou de la tension de certaines situations » dans la mise en scène du Tartuffe qui installe l’intrigue dans l’ambiance contemporaine d’ « un quotidien aisé » afin de montrer la « modernité » du « jeu subtil et efficace » de l’obscène au masque séraphique… De Molière à Copi, Jean Leloup et les siens interrogent en deux de ses incarnations majeures l’éternelle figure du calcul, du mensonge et du théâtre politique et social. « Totus mundus agit histrionem » était inscrit au fronton du Globe shakespearien : tout le monde joue la comédie, même ceux qui se réclament de Dieu, même les cancéreux qui vont mourir…
