Fondatrice, en 1994, de la compagnie YUBIWA Hotel, Shirotama Hitsujiya écrit et met en scène des pièces régulièrement traversées par les thématiques des pulsions sexuelles, de l’éruption de la violence, des instincts vitaux, de la mort…, des pièces qui souhaitent « proposer une nouvelle vision de la société, du monde, de la femme ». Sur scène aux côtés de la danseuse/chorégraphe Yun Myung Fee et du performeur Takao Kawaguchi, l’auteure et metteure en scène japonaise présente aujourd’hui Exchange, un spectacle qui s’attache à explorer la notion d’échange par le biais d’atmosphères résolument insolites. Un vieux hangar, des fragments de partition défilant sur un mur, des images de la grotte de Lascaux, peu de dialogues, la « musique minimaliste et faussement naïve » de Kazumasa Hashimoto, des vidéos, une grande place réservée à la danse… Exchange mêle les disciplines artistiques et témoigne d’une conception militante, politique, du théâtre.
