Le festival « Extension » du centre de création musicale La Muse en circuit s’était d’abord appelé « Extension du domaine de la note », une façon élégante de signifier la conquête de possibles territoires pour le son comme pour l’écoute. Dix ans de festival sont moins ici l’occasion d’un bilan que de s’ouvrir encore et toujours. Pour cet anniversaire, Extension arbore donc dix formes de création contemporaine (opéra, concert instrumental, parcours sonore et arts plastiques, danse, multimédia, théâtre musical, poésie sonore, live électronique, hörspiel instrumental, vidéo-opéra) en dix lieux (Opéra Comique, Théâtre Dunois, Galerie Univer, L’Ecam au Kremlin-Bicêtre, Théâtre de Cachan, Théâtre Romain Rolland de Villejuif, Maison de la Poésie, La Dynamo de Banlieues Bleues, Centre Olivier Messiaen de Champigny, Maison des Arts de Créteil).
L’instrumentiste au cœur
Si l’électronique, sous des formes diverses, est omniprésente, c’est bien le musicien qui est au cœur de la programmation. Dans Cello Audio Guide, la jeune violoncelliste Séverine Ballon « joue sur la plasticité de son instrument », comme une résonance musicale aux œuvres plastiques environnantes (Galerie Univer, le 21 mai). Garth Knox, ex-Altiste de l’Ensemble intercontemporain et du Quatuor Arditti, explore l’histoire des cordes en compagnie de la danseuse Annick Pütz,de l’artiste son Robin Meier et du vidéaste Jérémie Papin (le 25 mai, Kremlin-Bicêtre) tandis que le percussionniste Roland Auzet s’inspire de l’univers de Kurt Schwitters pour la poésie sonore de Cathédrale de misère (Maison de la poésie, le 29 mai). Très présente (notamment dans Chute(s) des compositeurs Raphaël Cendo, Michaël Jarrel et Martin Matalon, le 5 juin à la MAC), la vidéo sait aussi s’effacer pour laisser s’exprimer la scène. Le festival s’associe à la création des Boulingrin, opéra-bouffe de Georges Aperghis d’après Courteline à l’Opéra Comique (du 12 au 18 mai) et accueille My Way To Hell de Matteo Franceschini, curieux hybride de rock et d’opéra autour du thème d’Orphée (les 27 et 28 mai à Villejuif).
