Souvent croisé en duo ou en groupe sur les routes du Sud-Ouest et d’ailleurs, Fabien Boeuf a, au premier abord, l’air de ne pas y toucher. Une silhouette discrète, un look sage… Le regard est pourtant éloquent, et c’est sitôt monté sur scène que le garçon déploie sa panoplie d’artiste, en l’occurrence une verve spirituelle, voire fascinante, une présence électrique, le tout transformant de bons titres studio en véritables tubes de concert. « En live, je m’autorise plus de lâché sur la voix, les mélodies restent un peu les mêmes, mais je peux jouer sur la dynamique, enchaîner un titre très – voire très très – calme, et un morceau plus banané. Je ne suis pas un showman, mais propose un truc assez vivant à ma façon. »
Album peaufiné, jeu de scène instinctif
Fabien Boeuf a sorti à la rentrée un nouvel album, « les Premiers Papillons » (Jabba / Differ-Ant). Un opus très écrit, des enregistrements travaillés et mixés avec une précision quasi académique, le tout avec guitares folk et électrique, riffs de cuivre, clavier et section rythmique plutôt rock. Au final, le répertoire de chansons pop mériterait autant le tube radio que le vrai succès d’estime.
