C’était l’un des tubes des XVIIème et XVIIIème siècles. Reconnaissable dès les premières notes, le thème de la Follia a été repris par les plus grands compositeurs. Dans son concert au Théâtre de la Ville, Fabio Biondi et ses acolytes d’Europa Galante (le violoniste Andrea Rognoni, le violoncelliste Maurizio Naddeo, le théorbiste Giangiacomo Pinardi et la claveciniste Paola Poncet) programment la Sonate en ré mineur « La Follia » de Corelli et celle, d’une virtuosité diabolique, sur le même thème et dans la même tonalité, de Vivaldi. Entre ces deux œuvres seront jouées L’Apothéose de Corelli, une sonate en hommage au compositeur italien écrite par Couperin et la Sonate « Sanguineus et Melancholicus » de Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach, à l’expression pré-romantique. L’archet de Biondi, alliant élégance et esprit, devrait faire des merveilles dans ce répertoire.
