On lui doit l’une des versions discographiques les plus ébouriffantes des Quatre Saisons de Vivaldi (Opus 111). Après les enregistrements bien sages des ensembles I Musici et I Solisti Veneti, Fabio Biondi a révolutionné l’interprétation de la musique baroque italienne. A la tête de sa formation Europa Galante, il explore aussi bien le répertoire sacré que les ouvrages lyriques. Le Théâtre de la Ville les accueille pour un programme entièrement dédié à Luigi Boccherini. L’œuvre de ce compositeur italien de l’ère classique se distingue par sa spontanéité mélodique et par son sens des couleurs. Remarquons par ailleurs la grande virtuosité des parties de violoncelle, instrument joué par le compositeur lui-même. L’écriture habile et efficace de Boccherini a intéressé jusqu’à Luciano Berio, qui a magistralement orchestré l’une de ses œuvres. Même s’ils nous présentent les quatuors et quintettes dans leurs versions originales, gageons que Fabio Biondi et Europa Galante sauront honorer toute leur piquante modernité.
