Trompettiste remarqué au sein de différents grands ensembles, du Sacre du Tympan de Fred Pallem à l’ONJ Olivier Benoit en passant par Supersonic de Thomas de Pourquery, Fabrice Martinez dirige un quartet inspiré qui porte le joli nom de « Chut ! » (premier album sorti en 2016, le second l’an dernier). Combinant son groupe aux vents du collectif La Boutique, il en imagine une version élargie, la Grande Chut !, qui fait ses débuts ce mois-ci au Studio de l’Ermitage à Paris et à Meudon où le collectif est basé et où il tient boutique. Clarinette, clarinette basse, hautbois et basson viennent s’agréger au quartet formé par le trompettiste (qui en l’occurrence joue exclusivement du bugle) avec Fred Escoffier au piano, Bruno Chevillon à la contrebasse et Eric Echampard à la batterie, emmenant l’ensemble vers les souvenirs du jazz cool, des expérimentations Third Stream des années 1950, dans un foisonnement de timbres qui s’annonce intrigant.
