Plateaux Sauvages et Théâtre de l’Atelier / d’Ingmar Bergman (texte français de Lucie Albertini et Carl Gustaf Bjurström) / adaptation et mes Léonard Matton
Jenny, psychiatre apparemment comblée, passe ses vacances sans son mari et sa fille. Une tentative de viol la plonge dans la dépression et l’autodestruction, et elle s’effondre alors que son métier et sa personnalité semblaient la mettre à l’abri. Bergman décrit cet écroulement, ainsi que les efforts terribles que Jenny devra effectuer pour se ressaisir. Face à face a d’abord été diffusé à la télévision dans une version longue avant d’être projeté au cinéma. Liv Ullmann interprétait le rôle de Jenny Isaksson. « Convié par ses mots, dit Léonard Matton, nous souhaitons, d’une certaine et humble façon, « collaborer » avec Bergman en continuant d’explorer son écriture. » Pour ce faire, Yves Collet invente une scénographie qui permet d’osciller « entre psyché et réalité » : « tout devient, comme dans l’inconscient, à la fois vrai – présent – et faux. » En faisant voir ce qui n’est pas vraiment et en interrogeant le statut des représentations, le théâtre se fait double du thérapeute et herméneute de la narration.
