Jacques Bonneau était médecin, marié, père de deux enfants, conseiller municipal. Entre 1980 et 1990, il a assassiné sept femmes. Jugé aux assises de Beauvais, il a été condamné à la réclusion à perpétuité et purge aujourd’hui sa peine à Saint-Maur, dans l’Indre. Nicolas Bonneau a découvert son homonyme en 2008, lors d’une émission de télévision et « il a été fasciné, dégoûté, écœuré. Il a été intrigué, intéressé, curieux. Il a trouvé ça horrible, indicible, incompréhensible… inhumain ! ». Il a décidé de partir « à la recherche de Jacques B », sur ses traces, en Picardie. « C’est un polar qui commence là où tous les autres polars s’arrêtent », « un road-movie physique et mental à la recherche de mon propre monstre », dit le conteur qui est retourné sur les lieux du drame en série, a interrogé ceux qui ont connu l’assassin, les parents des victimes, les avocats, les chroniqueurs judiciaires, les médecins légistes, questionnant le territoire et ses habitants sur les faits, la mémoire des faits, l’imaginaire, les fantasmes et la rumeur.
Ce qui fait sens autour de l’insensé
Le spectacle se veut l’« autopsie d’une communauté » autant que la dissection des motivations et des conditions du passage à l’acte qui transforme la normalité en monstruosité : il n’est pas seulement le portrait d’un tueur mais également celui de tout ce qui fait sens autour de l’insensé de son geste. Incorporant le matériau documentaire dans une démarche théâtrale et spectaculaire, Nicolas Bonneau en livre la restitution scénique pour partager avec les spectateurs cette « part d’ombre » qui est en chacun et que personne ne veut voir.
