Le Naïf Théâtre de Richard Demarcy, compagnie associée et implantée au Grand Parquet, dans le 18e arrondissement, à Paris, trouve en ce lieu l’endroit idéal pour évoquer les aventures d’Alice au pays de la Reine de Cœur, tant la bâche, les roulottes, les loupiottes et la nostalgie circassienne de cette salle atypique se prêtent bien à l’esprit de bric et de broc malicieux et ingénieux de son spectacle. Car point d’effets spéciaux ni de déploiements technologiques sophistiqués pour faire grandir et rapetisser Alice, pour faire parler les lapins, les lézards et les cartes dans ces variations débridées autour des chausse-trappes et de la magie du langage, mais seulement une confiance totale en la capacité performative du théâtre où ce qui est énoncé fait être ce qui est dit. Il suffit donc de quelques mouvements de voiles, d’une brouette, d’une baignoire et d’une table-radeau, de portes mobiles et d’un hérisson en peluche pour qu’apparaisse l’univers loufoque et déjanté dans lequel le sommeil et ses associations libres plongent Alice, de l’autre côté du miroir, là où le réel se plie et obéit aux mots qui le nomment.
Une allègre anarchie inventive
L’adaptation scénique retient les principaux épisodes de l’épopée souterraine d’Alice et les personnages truculents qu’elle rencontre en deux gorgées d’élixir. Mais sur cette trame narrative, Richard Demarcy s’autorise une liberté très semblable à celle qui guidait Lewis Carroll lui-même et joue avec les désignations, les expressions et les langues (avec une présence épatante de l’anglais qui permet d’autres effets de décalage encore que ceux inhérents à l’écart entre le mot et la chose), illustrant ainsi l’immense force de contrainte et de subversion de la parole. Prenant les mots au pied de la lettre, se livrant à des étymologies et des décompositions structurales délirantes, désherbant la syntaxe et herborisant dans le vocabulaire, les personnages offrent aux petits spectateurs (auquel le propos reste très accessible) comme aux grands (plus sensibles peut-être aux clins d’œil philologiques et politiques) l’occasion très réussie d’une méditation sur le pouvoir des mots. Les comédiens du Naïf Théâtre (Ugo Broussot, Antonio Da Silva, Leontina Fall, Nicolas Le Bossé, Alfa Ngau Domingas et Yilin Yang) interprètent avec une pêche et en entrain formidables cette plongée fraîche et joyeuse dans l’univers du non-sens. Un spectacle remarquable d’inventivité et d’intelligence, hautement recommandable pour tous les âges !
