« Pour cette pièce, j’avais envie de revenir sur une gestuelle très personnelle, de faire une sorte de travail d’archéologie sur moi-même : quels sont les points de départ de mes mouvements ? Quelles sont les récurrences dans ma gestuelle, les petites formes de base qui sont mes manières spécifiques de bouger ? Au fil des années, j’ai travaillé avec des interprètes en me basant sur leur gestuelle, ou sur la théâtralité, alors c’était ici une occasion de revenir aux fondements de mon propre mouvement. Cela va dans le sens de la question de la transmission, de ce qui peut faire œuvre. Cela pose aussi la question du répertoire : que laisse-t-on comme traces ? J’ai fait un décryptage de ma gestuelle, en travaillant beaucoup sur les éléments de phrasés, sur la rythmique, des pieds, des mains, des bras. Ma gestuelle est plutôt en l’air, suspendue, flottante, elle n’est pas ancrée dans le sol.
Minimalisme et formes graphiques épurées
Le titre de la pièce Vaduz 2036 est un clin d’œil à Kandinsky, dont j’aime beaucoup le travail sur les formes et les lignes. J’ai voulu faire un travail d’analogie entre ces formes de base du dessin et ma danse, sans pour autant faire une pièce sur la peinture abstraite. De la même façon, la vidéo travaille sur des formes graphiques de base, en créant de la lumière et des espaces. Mais je ne travaille pas du tout sur la question du divertissement. Il y a quelque chose de minimaliste dans ma façon de revenir à de toutes petites formes du mouvement : partir des doigts, des pieds, justement pour ne pas verser dans le spectaculaire. J’ai transmis aux danseurs quelques fragments de séquences, qui ouvrent de multiples perspectives sur une autre manière d’écrire de la danse, d’autres principes d’écriture, et en même temps d’autres façons de voir la danse. »
