Le Faust que présente l’Opéra de Massy pour deux représentations les 15 et 17 mai a déjà montré en Avignon puis à Saint-Étienne, Nice ou encore Liège ses teintes de noir et de blanc, tout juste rehaussées, dans la scénographie cinématographique de Paul-Émile Fourny, de rouges méphistophéliques. La distribution, qu’accompagnent l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy et le Chœur de l’Opéra d’Avignon dirigés par Dominique Rouits, est en revanche largement renouvelée. Déjà récemment Méphisto dans La Damnation de Faust de Berlioz à Reims, Nicolas Courjal reprend l’habit du diabolique personnage, donnant la réplique au Faust d’Alfred Kim, ténor coréen formé au sein des troupes lyriques allemandes. La jeune soprano française d’origine arménienne Lianna Haroutounian, qui vient de faire ses débuts à l’Opéra de Berne dans Un bal masqué de Verdi, tient le rôle de Marguerite – son premier grand rôle sur une scène lyrique française.
