Le travail réalisé sur Faust va dans le même sens que celui effectué, la saison dernière, sur Le Revizor : présenter une réduction de l’œuvre qui la rende accessible sans pour cela en trahir l’esprit ou le style. Metteur en scène, adaptateur et interprète du spectacle (aux côtés d’un pianiste et de cinq autres comédiens), Ronan Rivière a souhaité mettre en lumière l’humour, « le romantisme échevelé » et la richesse narrative de la pièce de Goethe. « Je veux montrer que Faust est une œuvre vivante, puissante et enlevée », déclare-t-il. Centrant l’action sur le pacte passé entre Méphistophélès et Faust, ainsi que sur le couple que forme ce dernier et Marguerite, le fondateur du collectif Voix de Plumes souhaite transmettre aux publics le coup de foudre littéraire qu’a constitué pour lui la lecture de ce texte. Pour cela, il a conçu une représentation alliant musique et jeu d’acteurs : un « jeu concret et incisif, propre et assumé, qui fasse entendre la pièce sans psychologie, sans fioriture et sans lyrisme ».
