Fruit d’une large coproduction de plusieurs maisons d’opéras françaises, cette jolie production de Faust mise en scène par Nadine Duffaut arrive à l’Opéra de Marseille où la musique française est toujours la bienvenue. Et si, avec Carmen, le chef-d’œuvre de Gounod est incontestablement l’opéra français le plus célèbre et joué dans le monde, il est moins souvent à l’affiche des scènes nationales qu’on pourrait le croire. Dans cette mise en scène créée en juin 2017 à Avignon, Nadine Duffaut a choisi de transposer l’action de l’ouvrage à notre époque en faisant évoluer les personnages en jeans, blouson de cuir ou santiags rouges, dans le décor unique d’un vaste appartement décrépi. Elle bénéficie d’une distribution remarquable avec dans les principaux rôles Nicole Car (Marguerite), Jeanne-Marie Levy (Marthe), Jean-François Borras (Faust), Jean-Pierre Furlan (Vieux Faust ) et Nicolas Courjal (Méphistophélès).
