Chaque fin d’été, la petite ville de la Côte Saint-André, au cœur du Dauphiné, redonne vie aux œuvres de l’enfant du pays : Hector Berlioz. Cette année, le Festival fourmille de propositions très attrayantes, avec la présence d’un grand nombre d’orchestres sur instruments anciens. Marc Minkowski dirige ses Musiciens du Louvre dans un programme montrant le lien entre Berlioz et l’Italie (avec le Carnaval romain, une cantate écrite pour le prix de Rome et bien sûr Harold en Italie, le 18 août). Les Siècles de François-Xavier Roth rapprochent, quant à eux, le bouillonnant Hector de la musique russe (avec notamment L’Oiseau de feu de Stravinsky, le 19 août). Quant à La Chambre philharmonique, elle s’attaque, sous la baguette d’Emmanuel Krivine, à la Première symphonie de Brahms, surnommée par certains la « Dixième symphonie » de Beethoven (le 27 août). Le Festival a également passé une commande au compositeur Philippe Leroux, dont l’œuvre Envers symphonie sera créée en prélude à la Symphonie fantastique par l’Orchestre national de Lorraine et Jacques Mercier (le 28 août). Enfin, la pédagogie n’est pas oubliée, avec notamment les formations de jeunes musiciens de la région dirigées par Daniel Kawka (le 25 août) et François-Xavier Roth (le 29 août). Le directeur Bruno Messina a assurément imprimé un nouveau souffle à ce festival, qui, il y a quelques années, se limitait encore à inviter d’obscurs orchestres russes en tournée.
