La programmation musicale du festival parisien s’ouvre avec un concert monographique consacré au compositeur Pierluigi Billone. Ancien élève de Helmut Lachenmann à Stuttgart et de Salvatore Sciarrino, cet italien quinquagénaire aujourd’hui installé à Vienne, prototype du compositeur européen, reste pourtant relativement méconnu du public et des musiciens français. Ce concert exceptionnel de l’Ensemble L’instant Donné dirigé par James Weeks devrait contribuer à imposer sa musique inclassable, à l’écart des courants de la musique contemporaine, jouant avec la suspension et l’étirement du temps et l’utilisation de registres, de timbres et de modes de jeu singuliers et extrêmes. Au programme : Mani.Long pour 18 instruments, œuvre de 2001, et Kosmoi Fragmente pour soprano et ensemble, joué en création mondiale avec la chanteuse Alda Caiello. A signaler aussi, dans le même festival et la même salle le 1er octobre, un récital du pianiste et compositeur américain Frédéric Rzewski, autre musicien rare en France, dans ses propres œuvres dont les célèbres 36 variations sur un thème de Sergio Ortega (El pueblo unido jamas sera vencido), inspirées par les Diabelli de Beethoven et emblématiques de l’engagement politique de ce marxiste et antimilitariste convaincu.
