Le Quatuor Danel est réputé pour son engagement militant en faveur de la musique de notre temps. Pour autant, il ne faudrait pas limiter cette formation à la seule création contemporaine. Dans le cadre du festival que les Danel organisent à l’Abbaye du Pin, ils ont ainsi choisi d’interpréter les cinq derniers quatuors à cordes de Beethoven. Des sommets de la littérature chambriste, à l’écriture révolutionnaire, que le quatuor belge met en perspective avec des œuvres pour quintette à vents, interprétées par l’ensemble mp21. Cette formation de souffleurs donnera notamment les Bagatelles et les Dix pièces de Ligeti ou encore le Quintette de Kurtag. Bien sûr, les Danel joueront également des œuvres de compositeurs actuels, notamment de Bruno Mantovani et de Pascal Dusapin. L’intérêt du Festival de l’Abbaye du Pin, c’est aussi la programmation d’un ciné-club, cette année consacré à Beethoven, avec le très beau dessin animé Goshu le violoncelliste d’Isao Takahata et le mythique film d’Abel Gance Un grand amour de Beethoven.
