A deux heures de route de Paris et tout près de la ville du Mans, nichée en pleine verdure dans la campagne sarthoise, l’Abbaye Royale de l’Epau, fondée en 1229 par Bérengère de Navarre, veuve de Richard Cœur de Lion, rayonne comme l’un des plus beaux exemples de l’architecture cistercienne en France. Le site accueille chaque année au printemps ce joli festival qui constitue une escapade idéale pour mélomane parisien stressé. De cette programmation 2018, on retiendra d’abord le cycle des Midis musicaux, consacré à la musique pour piano de Debussy en cette année où l’on célèbre le centenaire de la mort du compositeur. Six jeunes pianistes sont convoqués pour livrer leur regard sur Debussy : Suzana Bartal, Vanessa Benelli-Mosell, Julien Brocal, Fabrizio Chiovetta, Jean-Paul Gasparian et Lise de la Salle. Autres temps forts : les rendez-vous vocaux dans l’abbatiale avec Sandrine Piau chantant Haendel accompagnée par les Paladins de Jerôme Correas, l’Ensemble Aedes et l’orchestre Les Siècles dans le Requiem de Fauré, ou A Filetta, ensemble de voix d’hommes spécialiste des polyphonies corses. Des soirées décalées et festives concluent chaque journée du festival sous un Magic Mirror ouvert à toutes les musiques, de la trompette de Lucienne Renaudin Vary à l’accordéon de Basha Slavinska.
