Pour cette édition anniversaire, le directeur artistique Paul-Emmanuel Thomas, par ailleurs directeur du Conservatoire de Menton, convie stars et jeunes pousses de la musique classique au cours de la première quinzaine d’août. Dans la série « grands interprètes », le violoniste Gidon Kremer se produira avec son ensemble Kremerata Baltica dans un tube, Les 4 saisons d’Antonio Vivaldi, qu’il confronte à des œuvres de Philip Glass et Astor Piazzola. Le violoniste Renaud Capuçon et le pianiste Nicholas Angelich, partenaires de musique de chambre de longue date, se consacrent à l’intégrale des sonates pour violon et piano de Brahms, un compositeur avec lequel le pianiste possède des affinités particulières, comme on a pu encore le constater avec l’Orchestre de Paris fin avril. Le cycle Brahms se poursuit avec le pianiste mythique Menahem Pressler, ancien membre du Beaux-Arts Trio, entouré par les archets du quatuor Schumann, pour interpréter le Quintette op 34 du compositeur allemand. Autre invité de prestige, le pianiste Nelson Freire se produira dans un récital Beethoven, Debussy, Rachmaninov et Schumann. Du côté des jeunes talents, on pourra découvrir le pianiste russe Yevgeny Sudbin dans un programme éclectique, de Scarlatti à Scriabine, ou encore le britannique Benjamin Grosvenor, en pleine ascension.
