On retrouve ainsi quelques programmes bien rodés, tel le superbe War Requiem de Britten, qui y a souvent résonné, sous la direction de Mstislav Rostropovitch, de Yutaka Sado ou, plus récemment, de Kurt Masur. Le 16 juin, Semyon Bychkov poursuit cette tradition, non pas avec l’Orchestre de Paris, avec qui il avait dirigé l’œuvre en 1993, mais avec l’Orchestre national de France et les solistes Marina Poplavskaya, Toby Spence et Matthias Goerne, le Chœur de la Radio de Berlin et la Maîtrise de Radio France : une distribution internationale qui correspond au caractère d’hymne à la paix universel de ce chef-d’œuvre. D’une manière générale, le répertoire sacré est largement à l’honneur (Te Deum de Charpentier et Lully dirigés par Vincent Dumestre le 7 juin, Stabat Mater de Rossini par Myung-Whun Chung, Patrizia Ciofi et Vivica Genaux le 28 juin, Vêpres d’un confesseur et Messe en ut de Mozart par Jérémie Rhorer le 1er juillet, Passion selon Saint Matthieu de Bach dirigée par John Nelson le 5 juillet).
L’esprit des lieux
Mais le festival a aussi toujours célébré un certain penchant pour le répertoire symphonique dans ses œuvres les plus puissamment « héroïques ». Illustration cette année encore avec l’« Héroïque » et la « Pastorale » de Beethoven confiées – et c’est une très bonne idée, au vu de leur récente intégrale (chez Zig-Zag Territoires) – à l’Anima Eterna Brugge de Jos van Immersel (8 juin) ou avec la Symphonie « Leningrad » de Chostakovitch dirigée par Yoel Levi, très convaincant dans ce répertoire avec son Orchestre national d’Ile-de-France (22 juin). Enfin, la Maison de la Légion d’honneur accueille, comme à l’accoutumée, des programmes plus intimistes, des cantates de Luigi Rossi par L’Arpeggiata au Quatuor pour la fin du temps de Messiaen par Myung-Whun chung et ses musiciens.
