Alors que la série « Métis », véritable festival dans le festival, égrène depuis déjà quelques semaines ses rendez-vous avec les musiques du monde, l’inauguration du cœur classique de la programmation du festival approche. « C’est notre volonté de nous adresser à tous les publics et de pratiquer un brassage des styles revigorant » déclare Jean-Pierre Le Pavec, son directeur. Il a concocté en ouverture deux événements musicaux remarquables inscrits dans l’histoire même du lieu qui accueille les concerts. La Basilique de Saint-Denis fut en effet au fil des siècles le témoin de cérémonies royales fastueuses où la musique jouait un rôle central. Le concert du 1er juin rend par exemple hommage au « Bon Roy Henry » à l’occasion du quatre-centième anniversaire de sa mort, en mai 1610, rue de la Ferronnerie à Paris, sous les coups de Ravaillac… La veille de ce triste jour, Henri IV avait assisté au sacre de la reine (Marie de Médicis) à Saint-Denis, là même où dix ans plus tôt, avaient été célébrées leurs noces. L’Ensemble Doulce Mémoire dirigé par Denis Raisin-Dadre propose un hommage « au Roy et à la Royne » et interprète pour la circonstance, la musique somptueuse d’Eustache Du Caurroy qui accompagna les obsèques du bon Henri IV, mais aussi son mariage… Une exposition (« Henri IV à Saint-Denis », jusqu’en octobre) et même un repas festif autour d’une « Poule au pot » (réservation au 01 48 13 12 10 !) prolongent ce concert du 1er juin à 20h30. Au cours de cette première semaine du festival, le chef Riccardo Muti et l’Orchestre National de France, deux fidèles de Saint-Denis, relieront eux aussi musique et histoire en interprétant le grandiose Requiem à la mémoire de Louis XVI de Cherubini, tous cuivres et chœurs dehors, associé dans un contraste saisissant à un immense chef-d’œuvre de Schubert, composé à la même époque (1815), la poignante et profonde Messe n°2 en sol majeur. Avec Topi Lehtipuu (ténor), Luca Pisaroni (basse), et le Choeur de Radio France (les 3 et 4 juin). A suivre, en juin, toujours à Saint-Denis : Goran Bregovic, Laurence Equilbey, Sandrine Piau, Ophélie Gaillard, Maxim Vengerov, Daniele Gatti, etc… A suivre !
