MUSIQUE ANCIENNE / CHARENTES-MARITIME
Ce n’est pas Philippe Herreweghe, figure tutélaire du Festival de Saintes, mais Sébastien Daucé et son jeune ensemble Correspondances qui ouvrent cet été la manifestation charentaise. Avec un projet ambitieux : la restitution musicale du Ballet royal de la nuit donné devant le jeune Louis XIV avec des musiques de Lambert, Boësset, Rossi et Cavalli. On retrouvera Philippe Herreweghe plus tard pour des madrigaux de Gesualdo (avec le Collegium vocale de Gent) puis dans des extraits de Parsifal de Wagner, mêlant le Jeune Orchestre de l’Abbaye et l’Orchestre des Champs-Elysées. Outre les orchestres et les chœurs (à ne pas manquer également le magnifique chœur Aedes dans Rossini !), les pianistes sont aussi à l’honneur, de Kristian Bezuidenhout à Vanessa Wagner. Mais la plus belle programmation du festival n’est elle pas annoncée officiellement : ce sont les fins de soirées, où les musiciens s’improvisent jazzmen, avec les vapeurs de cognac et autres pinots des Charentes.
