Bach, l’Angleterre… et des surprises. L’Abbaye aux Dames reste fidèle à sa tradition d’excellence dans le domaine de la musique ancienne. Trois jeunes ensembles se disputent cette année l’interprétation de Bach : Gli Angeli, de retour à Saintes, qui a sous la direction de Stephan MacLeod, entrepris une intégrale remarquée des cantates ; Vox Luminis (pour les Messes brèves BWV 235 et 236) et Le Banquet céleste de Damien Guillon, qui interprètera également des madrigaux de Frescobaldi, et des pièces rares au concert, comme l’est l’opéra Issé de Destouches interprété par le bien nommé ensemble Les Surprises. Pour les raretés, on s’intéressera aussi aux récitals : la pianiste Claire-Marie Le Guay qui relie Bach à Debussy, Dutilleux et Thierry Escaich ou le claveciniste Justin Taylor (Scarlatti, Forqueray, Ligeti). Le Jeune Orchestre de l’Abbaye interprètera Mozart, Beethoven (le 4e Concerto avec Ronald Brautigam au pianoforte) et Hoffmann (celui des contes), et Philippe Herreweghe, figure historique du festival, dirigera Wagner et Bruckner à la tête de l’Orchestre de chambre d’Europe.
