Chaque année ou presque (l’édition 2021 avait été annulée au dernier moment en raison de la crise sanitaire), le Festival de Flamenco de Nîmes, concocté par le Théâtre de Nîmes, constitue un événement international. Les plus grands chorégraphes et danseurs du genre trouvent leur place dans une programmation où souffle l’esprit de création et de renouveau. Parallèlement à la danse (voir notre rubrique danse), le Festival propose une captivante programmation de concerts. Parmi les rendez-vous les plus attendus cette année il faut citer les prestations, souvent inédites en France, d’artistes d’envergure dont le propos dépasse l’audience des seuls spécialistes du flamenco : l’immense et charismatique chanteur Pedro El Granaino (le 15/01), la jeune Maria Marin, nouvelle voix épurée et sophistiquée du flamenco en formule solo voix-guitare (le 16), la légendaire Ines Bacan (le 20), Rocio Marquez, diva du Flamenco contemporain dans la musique de son dernier album « Visto en el Jueves » qui lui a valu en France la Victoire 2020 du meilleur album de musiques du monde (le 21), ou encore le duo chant-électro Romero Martin « Manifiesto » (le 21) ou la carte blanche en guitare solo du jeune maître Dani de Moron, complice des plus grands danseurs mais aussi d’un certain Paco de Lucia (le 22).
