Après avoir posé ses bagages à Aulnay-sous-Bois en 2006 et Créteil en 2008, la nouvelle édition du festival prend place au Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. L’événement, qui se choisit cette année comme thème l’Italie et accueille Ivan Fedele comme compositeur en résidence, propose une dizaine de rendez-vous en entrée libre : concerts d’orchestre, opéra pour enfants, musique de chambre, conférences et présentations d’œuvres, rencontres avec des compositeurs, ateliers pédagogiques… « Chaque concert permettra d’entendre ou de réentendre des œuvres des grands compositeurs italiens du XXè siècle comme Luigi Dallapiccola ou Luciano Berio. Le compositeur de référence sera Ivan Fedele dont plusieurs œuvres seront données au cours des trois jours. Des commandes d’œuvres symphoniques ont été passées à des compositeurs italiens et français et seront créées en première mondiale » détaille Roland David, directeur de l’Orchestre National d’Île-de-France.

Parmi les temps forts de cette manifestation visant à favoriser l’accès d’un large public à la musique de notre temps, citons en priorité les deux représentations de l’opéra pour enfants Le Clavier fantastique
Chœur d’enfants du CRR de Versailles,
des choristes amateurs, la violoncelliste Emmanuelle Bertrand et bien sûr l’Orchestre National d’Île-de-France. Le programme sera là encore dominé par les créations avec Tropario ambrosiano d’Alberto Colla, le Concerto pour violoncelle et orchestre d’Ivan Fedele, une Pièce pour chœur et orchestre de Matteo Francheschini et Rendering de Luciano Berio. A noter que le très jeune compositeur Matteo Francheschini (né en 1979) entamera en début de saison prochaine une résidence de deux ans à l’ONDIF marquée par la commande de trois œuvres nouvelles. de Graciane Finzi (conçu d’après la nouvelle de Jules Verne) dirigé par Gilbert Levy (le 6 à 14h30 et le 7 à 20h30), le premier concert symphonique du 6 mai à 20h30 dirigé par Kaspar Zehnder avec des œuvres en création (française ou mondiale) de Jacopo Baboni Schilingi, Piotr Moss et Ivan Fedele ; puis le samedi, à 17h, une prestation de l’Ensemble Court-Circuit placé sous la direction de Jean Deroyer dans des partitions chambristes de Luca Francesconi, Annette Mengel, Kaija Saariaho et Fedele et, enfin, à 20h30, une deuxième escale symphonique associant, sous la baguette d’Enrique Mazzola, l’Ensemble vocal de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, le
