Instances, c’est également une façon de faire rayonner la danse dans la ville de Chalon à travers différents lieux – l’Espace des Arts, le conservatoire, la Maison des sports -, et différentes formes – le spectacle, mais aussi le cinéma ou la conférence. Beaucoup de nouvelles pièces sont à découvrir dans cette neuvième édition, à commencer par le solo que signe Jan Fabre pour Annabelle Chambon. Le créateur belge n’en est pas à son coup d’essai quand il s’agit de pousser une danseuse dans ses retranchements : une mare d’huile pour Quando l’uomo principale e una donna, des cadavres de chiens dans My movements are alone like streetdogs… Ici, Jan Fabre fait du travail débuté en 2005 à Avignon avec Annabelle Chambon une véritable pièce. On ne se fiera pas aux fleurs qui jonchent le sol ; Preparatio Mortis se situe bien dans la continuité de ses réflexions autour de la mort, du corps et de ses transformations. Une pièce sans tabou, comme celle de Kettly Noël, autre solo féminin dans lequel elle incarne Fanta Kaba, fille de la nuit. Après s’être perdue Chez Rosette en 2008 dans la pluridisciplinarité et le débordement, la chorégraphe tient un solo beaucoup plus dépouillé, juste habillé de musiques et de costumes.
Eikon, nouvelle création de Raphaëlle Delaunay
Instances accueille également la toute nouvelle pièce de Raphaëlle Delaunay. Après Bitter Sugar, la chorégraphe poursuit d’une autre façon son questionnement autour des cultures populaires et de la culture afro-américaine. A la convergence des deux, elle a choisit de s’attarder sur la figure du roi de la pop, Michael Jackson. Ni biographique, ni hagiographique, sa pièce Eikon convoque le personnage en filigrane, dans toutes ses ambigüités, mais également dans toutes les influences qui ont pu le construire, de Charlie Chaplin aux Electric Boogaloo. Autres invitées du festival : des pièces d’une grande force et qui ont déjà connu un beau succès, comme Tout va bien d’Alain Buffard, le magnifique Salves de Maguy Marin, ou l’étonnant Nos Solitudes de Julie Nioche.
