Le maire de Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, Christophe Chalard, ne cache pas son ambition pour son festival : en faire pour la musique lyrique l’équivalent de Marciac pour le jazz. Dans cette bastide qui est l’une des plus petites communes de France, le festival en est déjà à sa troisième édition et privilégie les artistes qui, au-delà de leur talent, engagent un important travail auprès du public, scolaire notamment, à l’instar du contre-ténor Alexis Vassiliev, à l’origine du projet. Cette année, la programmation se signale par le récital de trois contre-ténors (Stanislav Tsema, Joao Paulo Peças et Luca Parolin) dans des airs espagnols, brésiliens, baroques italiens et contemporains, par le concert de Florian Sempey, parrain de l’édition 2019, dans des airs de Mozart et Rossini, et par la présence de la mezzo roumaine Viorica Cortez, inoubliable Dalila, son premier rôle dans les années soixante… Elle a aujourd’hui 83 ans et est toujours en activité, comme le montrera son florilège d’airs de Bizet, Delibes ou Enesco.
