Depuis un quart de siècle, Beaune accueille la fine fleur de l’art vocal baroque et classique. Témoin dans ses premiers temps de l’essor de l’interprétation des musiques anciennes, le festival est aujourd’hui le miroir de sa vigueur. Trois opéras (en version de concert) se partagent l’affiche cette année : L’Orfeo de Monteverdi, dirigé quatre siècles après sa création par Rinaldo Alessandrini (13 juillet), et deux chefs-d’œuvre de Mozart. Révélation du dernier festival dans Idoménée, le jeune Jérémie Rhorer dirige sa formation Le Cercle de l’harmonie dans Les Noces de Figaro (14 juillet), avec une distribution vocale faisant elle aussi le pari de la jeunesse (la soprano Sophie Karthäuser, dans le rôle de Susanne, sera assurément à suivre). Le 21 juillet, c’est Marc Minkowski, l’un des mentors de Jérémie Rhorer, qui dirigera L’Enlèvement au sérail. William Christie, dont Jérémie Rhorer a également été l’assistant, sera à la tête des Arts florissants pour La Création de Haydn (27 juillet). Parmi les autres ensembles présents, signalons le Gabrieli Consort de Paul McCreesh pour l’Ode à sainte Cécile de Purcell (7 juillet) et La Fenice de Jean Tubéry pour un programme vénitien (22 juillet).
